This here is a twin beam mortise gauge. Species is Black Locust with Hawthorn wooden thumbscrews. The beams slide along one another with a precision tongue and groove joint.
The pins are made of 1095 spring steel and are hardened and tempered. They can be sharpened with a file.
Gauges are thoroughly sanded/scraped and finished with an tung oil varnish blend.
Block Measures 1.5625" x 2.75" x 1.125"
Beams measure 1/2" x 1/2" x 8"

Edit: I have decided to make it so that brass wear plates are standard on the front of this gauge. I've made this decision because I want this to be a lifetime tool. The price has increased a small amount to reflect the increase in labor.
